With no basic pastel knowledge required, this camp leads you to use ordinary oil pastel to mimic oil paintings of world famous paintings by famous mastery painters including Monet, Van Gogh, Cézanne and Picasso. After learning, you will be able to create beautiful oil-like paintings like a mastery painters! We will lead you know the art history of one mastery painter in each class, understand the stories of them and the secrets behind their famous paintings, learn painting skills and understanding of the world of colors from their color scheme.
Masterpieces we select for class: Monet's "Impression of Sunrise", Cézanne's "Fruit Plate", Van Gogh's "Sunflower", Picasso's "Dream". These classic works represent the peak of European art and Renaissance have a huge influence on modern and contemporary art.

Project 1
10:00am-12:00pm. Getting to know the material: Introduction. Techniques (using shapes of your pastel effectively, shading, blending, powder painting, stencils, and more). Landscape. Underpainting technique. Introduce to Monet. Use pastel to mimic his famous oil paintings on water lily.
Project 2
10:00am-12:00pm. Learn Monet's color scheme. Use similar color combination to finish a simple coastal landscape.
Project 3
10:00am-12:00pm. Getting to know Van Gogh and his main masterpieces together with his artistic style. Use pastel to mimic his most famous artwork Vase with Twelve Sunflowers.
Project 4
10:00am-12:00pm. Understand the main color scheme of Van Gogh's main artwork. Use pastel to mimic one of his favorite artwork Green Wheat Field with Cypress.
Project 5
10:00am-12:00pm. Classical watercolor with underpainting. Starting a small realistic still life (trompe-l'oeil).
Project 6
10:00am-12:00pm. Getting to know Cezanne. Use cold color pastels to mimic one of his still life artworks.
Project 7
10:00am-12:00pm. Getting to know Alfred Sisley, his favorite color scheme and artistic style. Use pastel to mimic his Villeneuve-la-Garenne.
Project 8
10:00am-12:00pm. Final project of a choice. Choose one of the masterpieces from Monet and Vah Gogh. Apply the pastel skills that you have learnt to mimic / recreate their work.
